PROGNE DOMINICENSIS
The Caribbean Martin or White-bellied Mar- tin is a large steel-blue swallow with a white belly and a forked tail. Adult males have a glossy blue-black upperparts with contrast- ing white lower underparts. Females and juveniles are duller than the male, with grey- brown breast and white lower underparts.
Caribbean martins are gregarious birds which hunt for insects in flight. They breed on Caribbean islands and build their nests in cavities in rocks, buildings, or other holes. They lay between 3-6 eggs which are incu- bated for 15 days.
