The Short-billed Dowitcher is a migratory medium-sized, stocky, long-billed shorebird. Adults have dark brown upperparts and a long bill. The legs are a yellow in color.
This species favors a variety of habitats This bird is more likely to be seen near ocean coasts during migration. These birds forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud. They mainly eat insects, mollusks, crusta- ceans and marine worms, but also eat some plant material.
