VIREO ALTILOQUUS
The Black-Whiskered Vireo is a small passerine bird. They are often heard, but not seen. Adults have dull olive-green upperparts and white underparts. There is some yellow on the flanks and under the tail. They have thick blue-grey legs, large gray bill, red eyes and a grey-brown crown. There is a dark line through the eyes and a white eyebrow stripe.
The Black-Whiskered Vireo can be found in dense undergrowth and open woodlan areas. They eat insects from foliage as well as berries. They build a cup nest in a fork of a tree branch. Females lay 2-3 white eggs. The song is a three-syllable whip.
