Holstein Friesian Cattle
Bos (primigenius) taurus
Cattle are large, domesticated, bovid ungulates widely kept as livestock. They are prominent modern members of the subfamily Bovinae and the most widespread species of the genus Bos. Mature female cattle are called cows and mature male cattle are bulls.

Holstein Friesian cow, the world's most common dairy cattle breed. Known for its distinctive black-and-white coat pattern, it originated in the present-day Netherlands and Germany. It is the dominant breed in industrial dairy farming worldwide, and is found in more than 160 countries. It is known by many names, among them Holstein, Friesian and Black and White.

Holsteins have very distinctive markings, usually black and white or red and white in colour, typically exhibiting piebald patterns. The breed is the dominant choice in global industrial dairy farming due to its exceptional milk production.

A mature cow typically weighs around 1,500 pounds (680 kg) and stands 58 inches (147 cm) tall at the shoulder.
