The Mallard Duck or Wild
Duck is a dabbling duck. It is
a medium-sized waterfowl
species that is often slight
ly heavier than most other
dabbling ducks.



Males (drakes) have a glossy
bottle-green head and a
white collar, purple-tinged
brown breast and grey
brown wings. The bill is
yellowish-orange tipped
with black. Females (hens)
are generally darker and
mainly have a brown speck
led plumage. Mallard Ducks
live in wetlands and feed on
water plants and small ani
mals. They are social animals
preferring to congregate in
groups or flocks.


SIZE: 19-22 in
Same size as an
egret.
