The Milkweed Stem Weevil is a species of weevil from the Snout Beetle family, Curculionidae. Adults feed on the host plant leaves. The females move to lower parts of the stem after feeding and chew several sequential holes in the stem laying a single egg in each hole. Larvae complete development inside the stem while feeding on the pith tissue.


Identification: They are small weevils and are black in colour with dark red antennae and foot sub-segments (tarsi). The front of the head has a snout that is curved downwards.
