Schistocerca americana
Schistocerca americana is a species of grasshopper in the family Acrididae known commonly as the American grasshopper or American bird grasshopper. It is native to North America, but occurs in in other countries further south. many of which swarm as locusts.
Identification: Adult males grow up to 4.5cm long, while females may reach 5.5cm. The body is generally yellow-brown in color and the wings are pale with large brown spots.
