Scaly Crickets are small crickets from the family Mogoplistidae. They are omnivorous scavengers that feed mainly on plant material, fungi and also other insects. Scaly crickets antennae are longer than their body. They are not capable of flight, and the females do not have wings. The males have small wings which they rub together to make chirping sounds.
Identification: They are small crickets, around 2mm long. They can be brown, caramel or black in color, with translucent scales that rub off easily.
