The Reticulated cowrie helmet
is a species of sea snail in the
family Cassidae.
IDENTIFICATION: The shell is
large, shiny and smooth. It is
oval-shaped and elongated.
The colour is usually a light
brown or cream color, with
dark brown, intricate and
raised lines that form a retic
ulated pattern. The cowrie’s
mantle, the soft tissue that
covers the shell, is usually a
pale color, with dark spots or
stripes.
