The flame helmet is a sea snail
in the family Cassidae.
IDENTIFICATION: The shell
is thick, elongated and oval
shaped. It has a short spire and
very large body whorl, which
has smooth axial ridges. The
shell has an elongated aper
ture with rows of folds on both
inner and outer lips. The colour
is cream to tan, with brown
streaks and blotches, with
shades of reddish-brown and
zigzag or wavy stripes.
