The West Indian Fighting Conch
is a sea snail in the family Strom
bidae.
IDENTIFICATION: The shell is
glossy, smooth, thick and solid.
It has a large body whorl and a
short and pointed spire. It has
8-9 whorls sculptured with a
single row of blunt spines. The
aperture is relatively long and
smooth. The colour can vary
from salmon-pink, cream to
dark orange. The interior is
usually white to pink.
