ACTITIS MACULARIUS
The Spotted Sandpiper is a small-medium sized shorebird. They have brown upperparts and white underparts, They have a rounded breast, which makes them appear as though they are leaning forward. The bill is slightly shorter than its head. In breeding season, adults have bold dark spots on their bright white breast and an orange bill.
Spotted Sandpipers are often solitary and walk with a distinctive teeter, bobbing their tails up and down constantly. They can be found anywhere near water ponds, lakes, beaches, and rocky shores.
